CURRENT

 An electric current is the rate of flow of electric charge past a point or region. An electric current is said to exist when there is a net flow of electric charge through a region. Electric charge is carried by charged particles, so an electric current is a flow of charged particles.



Current is usually denoted by the symbol I. Ohm's law relates the current flowing through a conductor to the voltage V and resistance R; that is, V = IR. An alternative statement of Ohm's law is I = V/R.

The SI unit of electric current is the ampere or amp,
